The renovation and expansion project for Helen Newberry Joy Hospital allows the hospital to better meet the changing needs of healthcare delivery through carefully conceived department adjacencies, efficiency-enhancing design and updated and patient-friendly service areas.
Minimizing disruption during construction was critical. Because many departments were relocated, construction was phased so each department moved only once, and no department was required to function amidst construction activities. For example, by first completing the expansion portion of the project and moving the dietary department into the new area, it was possible to then renovate the former dietary department into a new laboratory. Similar sequencing for each affected area minimized disruption throughout construction. |
